dVersepoets Prompt – Open Link Night ~ Week 36
hosted by Claudia Schoenfeld
one of the founders of dversepoets, with brian miller, claudia welcomes us to open link night with a prose-poem of a welcome-prompt :
“I let you in on a little secret.. my fav OLN times are when the doors just open and you have to be careful not to get run over, when poets with ink-smeared hands and sheets of paper wrapped around them spill into the door, try to find a chair, hug, chatter and laugh, say hello to old friends, welcome newcomers and order their first poetic pint…ahhhh…what a pleasure….”
reading the rest is alone worth the visit to this fine poetry site –
and who knows, you may catch the madness of words that mean more than meant, that flip readers minds into visions within themselves, that conjure up feelings felt once, and now remembered twice…
like sports, you can always come back and try again 😉

March Madness, The Madness of Sports
sports
unlike wars
illnesses and
some mistakes
is an event
activity
that
if you lose
you can come
back again
*
rules
dictate, not
dictators
assertiveness
within
oneself and
among one’s peers
replaces aggression
*
markers
heart beats
when we listen
ranges, muscle motion
when we feel
tell us how well
we’ve come along
our own fair fitness
while stats
numbers rankings asterisks
tell the tale amongst
each other
*
the high fly ball
the rolling of the ball
down the alley
the spinning of wheels beneath
us
as we cycle hills and seasides and
neighborhoods
our neighbors’ elbows
tickling ribs into playful pain
on sand lots and faint-striped courts
to
one long held well-breathed yoga pose
on a recycled mat among hundreds by the
eiffel tower central park oceanside and
town square…
if we fall or stumble or ache or break but
can return, we can return –
it’s madness, but
in sports
only our own
choice
can stop us

obviously, i am taking poetic license, when i say only our own choice can stop us, i don’t mean we could still return to ice skating or other demanding activity, in the same way or right away, if we broke our leg or suffered a stroke
what i do mean though, is we can choose to return if physically able
or we can return to a level of activity within what we are able
if we choose to, because we can choose to do so
should we?
well, for me, that begins to be the inner realm of individual preferences
there are as many sports as people can come up with
even playing with words or images is sport-like
and yoga?
again, for me
there’s a reason, in yoga, it’s called,
blessings everyone ;-)
namaste´- con dios – god be with you

Taking poetic license is the way to go for dVerse!! Good going. The wilder and more license taken, the better!
I do like that rules rule sports and not dicators.
P.S. Yoga ROCKS to the core!! And more.
