Second in my early September Mount Mansfield sunrise images from the same morning and location, I can clearly see the changes beginning to occur! Though the upper sky is slightly darker and the land below still remains in darkness, the light between those two layers is brighter.
This, I began to learn just last year, is the magic of twilight!
And, amazingly to me, there’s apparently THREE different levels of twilight!
This is why in my early days of trying to catch first light and relying on sunrise time I kept missing the “look” I was literally looking for, lol!
Wikipedia has a relatively short and clearly laid out article detailing each level of twilight (civil, nautical, and astronomical), where the sun is as it approaches the horizon, and the how the quality of light differs in each stage. I highly recommend it! ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight )
Next post and image in this series I’ll speak a little to the profile of Mount Mansfield – the sleeping head stretching across the ridge line (smiles).
I do sometimes make paintings of my photos. Below is the cache of work my wife Sheila and and I took to Art Hop 2018 in Burlington Vermont this year. This was my second year to participate, the first time being in 2011 when we lived in Sheila’s home state so I could have a taste of life in Vermont (I loved it!).
Art Hop in Burlington is a diverse venue of art, music, fashion, and locations doable at a very reasonable price point!
If you should want info on also exhibiting Art Hop in Vermont, please email Sarah Drexler, the Associate Director at Sarah@SEABA.com for info 🙂
General Art Hop and other arts info is available at www.seaba.com .
