My wife and I took our youngest grandchild and his other grandmother visiting from Florida to the Old Bakery & Emporium today.

As we explored the various rooms in this beautifully restored and preserved historical building from Austin earliest days, we came across the sister of another artist showing at the Bakery. Debbie and her companion Myles and I struck up a conversation about art on the first level and eventually wound up in the gallery where they saw my painting, “Birds and Sailboat in Paradise”.

We talked about how I’d combined mostly Costa Rican motifs with a touch of Vermont, and about how Myles had just been to Central America and had – like my wife and I – fallen in love with that tiny country’s beauty and people.

Luckily the six year old was playing hide and seek with his two grandmas and I had a few minutes to enjoy a little art chat. Plus, Debbie asked if I would take a photo with my print with Myles in front of my original. That rivaled the ice cream treat that family and I’d just had at Dolce Neve! 😊
