A Quick Preface for My Print Plans

Yesterday, in my ruminations post while at the Old Bakery & Emporium, I mentioned reconsidering my ideas about doing Limited Editions, instead focusing on open edition prints for various reasons.

Rather than try and go into deeper detail now, I’ll simply present these as my current idea and just see what folks think about the image choices.

Next post I’ll go into more detail about why I’m looking at printing on 12×18 paper, what kind of paper, pricing, and a little history about my picture framing days (early 80s to early 2000s), including when I had a shop for several years across from University of Texas here in Austin (early 90s).

I will say, having a body of photo images to go with my original art today, is a significant difference from those days when I cut my own glass, beveled my own mats, and chose my own backing – but didn’t have enough visual work, or means to print it – to do what I want to do now 😊

But I did learn this, cropping the image with my own custom cut-sized mats allowed me to choose my edges to enhance the image – and, picking my own colors and amount of mat to use as a border, taught me ideas about how to enhance a picture.

So that’s part of why, to start with, I’d like to begin with poster versions of my work (which I’d already created over the years and uploaded to Fine Art America).

Below, not able to resist, is a second Paris poster, because – when can one have too much of the beauty of Paris? 😊

This image of Notre Dame was captured late November 2012. The original image was one of my very first uploaded to Fine Art America spring of 2016, and I created and uploaded the digitally altered poster version November of last year (2018).

Seeing the fire that engulfed this shrine to humanity, both haunts and braces me 💕
