Bus Trips Can Be Fun, Esp in Paris, Esp at Night!

Intro

Usually when I post older photos I notate the year I took the pictures in the title, ie, these are from 2012, but — since the objects of my images are more than a century old themselves… 😊

I still distinctly remember lamenting not having clear shots during the whole tour bus trip — reflections bouncing inside the bus from both within the bus and street lights and hotels and palaces outside.

“My” Eiffel Tower had cars parked in front of it! A spotlight seemed anchored to the towering icon’s side! Things I still can’t identify crossed horizontally like after burners from a space shuttle! And the Arc de Triomphe – not mine for sure, I thought, but to daring leaders and troops like during the liberation of Paris – screaming colors and squiggles like it couldn’t stop celebrating it’d see so much!

Ok. So maybe now that I have over half a decade to think about it, and describe it, here, in “my” post, lol 😂 I can see why folks have like these renditions so much!

Luckily, since there weren’t many folks on the tour, I remember my wife and I could move easily and quickly from side to side inside the bus picking our window, then to the front with the giant viewing windows, and back again to catch another icon shrinking in the rear window. Neither the bus driver nor the few other tourists aboard seem to mind 😊

Either way, it was fun. We’d do it again – and – I got some great shots!

Comparison / Contrast

In a previous post, I showed how one image of mine from Austin (also a night image) differed in poster format both with and without text in the border, in mood and visual impact.

Here, below, via Arc De Triomphe, I show a similar effect, but how additional or less bordering can affect the final feel of a posture.

This is a larger view of my Arc De Triomphe image above —

And this is the less extensively developed border version of Arc De Triomphe.

Though visually I like the top double color border image best, emotionally I get more immediacy in the bottom single color border version.

Both are good…

Conclusion

Sometimes, like with Soften Evening at Palmer Pond Austin in my previous post, I felt both variations were worth keeping. I feel the same here.

I like being able to show both styles. And I’m glad I can also offer both styles.

Technology has enabled some surprising versatility…

…and freedom 😊

    1. So glad you like it, Tiffany! 😊 Posters are (usually) so much fun to play around with, and w/today’s tech, one can switch out text & other stuff as long as the original layers-file is kept & one has time 😊
