March 01, 2021 – Floating Butterfly 1 Pen and Ink with Watercolor – circa 2021 Watercolor – Adan’s PhotoPoems

A small thing, but the kind of small thing that keeps hope afloat! 🙏

I’m very grateful the City of Austin has a place like the Old Bakery and Emporium, an 1800s preserved & renovated historical site that displays the work of Austin area artists 50+ years young 😊

I won’t go into much more right now, the blog post link above ( below the image ) goes to a nice photo-poem blog post featuring this work. As noted yesterday, Sheila and I got our 2nd boosters, and I was fairly whacked yesterday afternoon & evening. That lingered with chills and feeling too hot alternating all day. This evening ( Friday, April 8th), I’m better, but feel like I overdid a thousand senior exercise classes in one day, lol!

Though I’m firmly working textural works right now, and “very” much loving it. I do think, with practice, ie, experimenting, work watercolor or watercolor-like acrylic work, esp of figures/butterflies etc, but within textural contexts. Conversely I can flip what the textural and watercolor-ish work center outward. So we’ll see if these are good ideas, or the effect of my booster-fueled fever-like waves of feeling hot then cold ☺️

Matter of fact, I basically finished an example of the latter, textured in the center & soft outward, and if I get a good shot of it tomorrow ( Saturday ) I’ll try and post it this Sunday. I really like it, but what gives me promise about it is, Sheila’s gone from “mew” to “hmmm, I like that!” Never argue with a spouse who cooks like a chef, lol! ❤️

Keep faith everyone!! 💕

    1. Oh you are so right, Margaret! Every tiny bit is a life line! 🙏 And yes, the Old Bakery’s a lifeline for us here in Austin. More new and older galleries are ramping up again after the long Covid pause, and even the Old Bakery was closed quite a while, but it’s very unique in offering us 50+ folks a place and chance to show and sell our own work w/out much further criteria. The city gains ’cause it can run the whole location as a service, plus it showcases a lot of historical artifacts from several museums, like the O Henry collection, in the 1800s bakery. If one ever cranks up in your area be sure & let us know, Margaret! ❤️

  3. Congratulations! That is a very nice painting! How did it go with the second booster Felipe? I’m kind of hesitant after the first booster. Have a great weekend and all the best.

    1. Thanks, Francis! Watercolor is such a generous medium for color and nuance ❤️ And glad to say, basically 2+ days after the 2nd booster, I’m nearly back to normal! 😊 Sheila was find the very next day ‘cept for a slightly sore arm; mine’s still a “little” sore today. It varies so much person to person. Choose what you think is best for you, my friend 🙏 😊

      1. Thank you Felipe. I’m glad you’re getting back to normal, and you’re right, it is different for each person. I had Moderna for the first booster, I think I’ll get Pfizer for number two. All the best and a happy Sunday to you.
