A partial review of Marry Me ( 9800+ positive review average ) because I’m writing this at nearly 9pm and Sheila & I have only seen half the movie so far, lol! The trailer had us cracking up laughing, and the movie has us both loving and feeling tender moments for the children involved in the film —
Like many of Jennifer’s ( https://amzn.to/3IyEGwl ) and Owen’s ( https://felipeadanlerma.com/2020/07/06/adans-movie-cable-tv-reviews-midnight-in-paris-viewed-a-decade-later-better-than-id-realized-5-stars/ ) separate films, there’s a lot of commentary about life delivered in very human yet powerful ways.
Which, I’m sad to say, is in stark contrast to the KVUE special we saw earlier today with footage of the hallway in the school in Uvalde, with the sound of massive amounts of rounds fired inside that classroom….
The best part of KVUE’s presentation was having Austin’s ( and then Houston’s and Miami’s ) police chief ( Art Acevedo ) deliver the kind of brutally honest commentary we relied on him for when he served here in Austin. It is wrenching what he has to say, and it needs saying 😔
Honestly, seeing both these two wildly differing films / video involving children, is as stark a reminder of the values we need in our world and society, than anything I’d expected for us today.
We hope to watch the rest of the movie tonight. We had thought we’d see half this evening and the rest tomorrow, but it’s too good, too heart warming to wait ❤️
