– based on American Impressionist’s Childe Hassan’s gorgeous pastel masterpiece, On the Balcony 1888
Below is my reblog update from late last year. I’d hope to have this 24×36 done by now, and it’s almost there, but I wanna make to few more touches, probably leaving Starlight 2025 with a mix of impressionism and abstraction.
Meanwhile, I’ve decided I don’t want to hurry this piece. Some areas may end up seeming unfinished to some folk, but that’s okay. I really enjoy tinkering with this work, and with various new series of figure work in-progress ( hope to post the next Thrust 2025 variation soon), I feel I can slide with a bit more pleasure into Starlight 2025.
Below is a close-up detail from the neck area where I’m playing with white and red spot-mixes to mimic a necklace of some sort. And I may fiddle with other border areas in the painting too, we’ll see 😊

Thanks so much everyone – below is my reblog from late last year 🙏❤️

below, reblog from 12.31.24 at : https://felipeadanlerma.com/2024/12/31/reblog-a-work-in-progress-post-from-feb22-my-new-years-resolution-finish-this-painting-by-feb-25/

I’ve procrastinated finishing this post almost as much as finishing this painting, Dreaming With the Moon and Stars 2022-25, based on Childe Hassan’s gorgeous impressionist masterpiece, On the Balcony 1888.
I did do mostly impressionist work, scenes of Austin mostly, in the 2000s. Prior to that, in the 1980’s especially, I mostly did abstracts and straightforward realist work.
So I can see pretty clearly now I’ve always been moving toward blending my approaches to painting, and now I’m merging figures more into my mix of abstracts, impressionism and figures.
Seeing this decades long progression more clearly now, I feel I can risk allowing my heart and intuition to lead me into finally finishing my personal take of Hassan’s brilliant piece, On the Balcony, with my own 2025 personal version, Dreaming With the Moon and Stars.
Thanks so much for coming by 🙏❤️😊
