Just some quick post shots into the ether of something the other that’s caught my eye 😊
Sometimes humorous. Sometimes serious. Sometimes baffling.
Sometimes beautiful.
All as they effect me of course, but enough I wanted to share (retweet & post).
Sarah Loft was one of the first artists I came across I really liked on Twitter, this being more than several years back. She was/is part of a group of artists I first came to know via Fine Art America, actually, then on Twitter as I became more involved, and found more purpose in sharing art via that media source. I’ve watched and enjoyed and shared her work as she herself struggled with varying illnesses, never wavering in her commitment to both share hers and others’ work, plus remaining creative herself. That’s a mean (ie, difficult) feat to consistently exhibit. Her work that 1st caught my eye tended to be either, the play of light and shadow in otherwise mundane photos (thus transforming the capture), or reflections – reflections of light and things and people – on car windshields, puddles of water, sides of buildings, store glass. Just an amazing dexterity of eye and variety of variations. And lately, in a surprisingly natural progression, a development of her digital art work. As her Fine Art America page for this image states, “This image was created as a paper collage using pieces of old magazines. The scanned collage was digitally painted and a texture was added.” I chose this image for one main reason – I keep going back to look at it! 😊 Slowly, over many days, I’ve also begun to absorb it enough I think I can give a few other reasons why, at least for me, lol! I do think folks’ll find their own reasons too! As many art theorists say, it was the colors that’ll stop a viewer first, and I think that was definitely true here for me. The luxuriousness of the tones, and the delicate nuancing of shading and tints, all radiate of comfort and healing for me. Within those shadings and tints, as other art theorists say, it is the value balances of light and dark that satisfy and keep one there, viewing and viewing. So in a very real sense, she has continued what first caught my attention those years back – the play of light! Sarah Loft is an artist I enjoy viewing on both Twitter and Fine Art America. I hope you will too 😊
