September 28, 2022 – Working Texture and Figures into Compositions I Like, Part 6 : Adding a 5th ( scumbled ) Layer to Danseur en Bleu ( formerly Dancing Turquoise )

Scumbling was one of my favorite ways to paint when I painted in oils, way back in the 2000s – so it felt extra nice applying it to my recent multi-glazed acrylic, “Danseur en Bleu” — here’s some detail shots below :

Though feeling much more complete – very dimensional seen physically – giving it a “day off” lets me see places I wanna touch with more color. Here and there, not all over though anymore, I think 😊

My detail photo shots make me long to just do abstracts again, but until I can get a firmer bearing merging figure and abstract, a pure abstract’ll still be the rarity vs the norm.

Besides, I’ve got lots of pure abstracts already, and I still wanted to wrangle how to merge that with a figure in some form. We see the wonderful abstracts of faraway pure space nowadays via today’s incredible telescopes, but I don’t want to forget, souls and spirits that we may be, we are also of and from the Earth we stand upon ❤️
