New Painting Series – Island Land Trail Sunset Vermont 2026 – Gaining Perspective About My Experience of Painting Doing Series of Series

Below are my vertically cropped & full horizontal versions of my original photo captured one summer visit to Vermont in 2017.

Doing a series of paintings from one of my own original photographs has been much more than merely experimenting with fun versions of that photo, or trying to capture an essence of the photo, but rather, it’s more to do with realizing there were many moments, feelings, both over many years visiting this location in Vermont, but even within single time frames themselves.

It’s a welcome surprise to realize how rich one’s life experience can be, even within seemingly single short time frames themselves!

I feel this new small study, with its misty soft blues and distant vistas is a nice reflection of that 😊 🙏

I can add that, being a few paintings into the series now, I’m slowly, very slowly, also realizing that the differing styles, and color concentrations, are not simply playful variations, but actually interpretations of differing moods and mental states during different moments and visits to this location along the Island Line Trail across parts of Lake Champlain! It’s a spot I was/am always glad to “get to” again ❤️
