1st Cabin Light Study 1 2025

Etchings in a movable sky
furrows in a heavy earth
my brush moved and scoured as my
eyes devoured the Earth’s pigments in motion

The air moved, caressed the
sleeping soil

My brush, light in hand
dripped moisture from the waking sky

The earthan mounds of burnt and raw sienna
stirred
yet remain in place.
Solid. Yet
responding
forming glaciers of dirt, waves of skins of sky

I wasn’t sure when to stop
but my own waves of self, conscious of the
need to rest joined the earth before me,
an image shaped by pigments from
itself.

One more breath
and reluctantly, relieved, I let the weight of the Earth
– and me –
renew….
