Vermont
The Green Mountain State
is a state of mind
also.
Proud. Independent.
Serene in stone.
Yet warming
to sunshine smiles.
Green for the growth of
forests and futures of young
souls set in a mountain
of consciousness –
the green mountain state.
Mountains of green
lush with trees
uncut
from first light
at
Lone Rock Point.
A rippled land
of mountains
meadows
cloves
and dales
held calmly
in a seasoned state –
the green mountain state.

yesterday’s post, “texas to vermont, have yoga will travel, new beginning” along with the first two posts in my texas to vermont series, go into much detail of the why’s and what’s of our move from texas to vermont
my poem above, “vermont,” is a first attempt to say what i see living here now
having lived my whole life in texas and a few years in florida (while in the air force) vermont has been like an adventure –
new climate, new city –
yet, still a major merging of two things:
the people of vermont and texas (how similar they are)
and the blending of the activities in austin with the size and accessibility of galveston
interesting 😉
