Working the Painting Language – The Triangular Path, via Dianne Mize

Dianne begins her art tip post with this intriguing paragraph ( all bold emphasis hers ) —
One thing we see consistent among works by Rembrandt, Leonardo, Sargent and all those master painters whose works continue to fascinate us is not just the subjects they chose, or how well they interpreted those subjects, but how they composed their works so that every inch of the painting surface plays a role in the painting.

I’m not gonna spoil the surprises and progressions Dianne took me on via her sequence of images of Mary Whyte’s painting, Pearl, but it was an eye opener how dramatically the work was affected with each change!
I’ll only add, I’d read another artist’s post somewhere else recently saying they believed value contrast was the most important feature in an image, and was pleasantly shouldn’t-have-been surprised how Dianne’s triangular path(s) also involved that – value changes.
Oh what a web we do weave to make our visual magic, lol! ❤️
In this case, with no negative deception meant! 💕
Stay well everyone – keep learning! ☺️
