Though I still create stand-alone individual new paintings, mostly figures and abstracts, more and more I’m enjoying doing what’s developed into ongoing series of variations from my own photos of places my wife Sheila and I have been fortunate to visit or even live in.
My previous post went a little into why I’m developing an interest in creating art from locations I’ve captured in photos, mostly digitally. A big reason is what I discover reliving memories that mean something special to me. Hopeful each new post will delve into that aspect in regard to each new painting 😊
For today I’ll start just by listing the series I’m either already am well into, or I’ve begun – even if with just one piece, even if not uploaded – or I definitely intend to begin as able.
My Collections page at Saatchi Art includes collections by style or place plus works in a specific series. Best I can do for now, lol! Hopefully improve over time 🙏
Series list as of April 25, 2026 :
1. Island Line Trail Vermont Sunset 2026, Vertical series
Good chance I’ll combine the vertical versions I’m creating with these, as they’re all via the same original photo
2. San Francisco Bridge painting series 2026.
Currently 2 paintings posted, working on more. I do intend to do another bridge version later, based on a different photo, so I’ll to show those paintings (none done yet) in a new series for that photo when I have new work for it (wish me good luck!).
3. 1st Cabin Light 2025-6 Collective Series of 3
I’ve actually done renditions of this favorite spot and visit to the Stowe area for several decades, and will probably add those into this series later. This includes an oil and watercolors. I feel the point I’m coming to is that any one photo capture of mine lays claim to all paintings emanating from that moment’s capture of scene and feelings.
4. Austin Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge, approx 2016, nascent series 😊
I’ve begun some works off this particular photo of mine, but don’t feel anything is fully done yet.
5. Paris Jean Beauvais Square BW 2012, very nascent
I’ve one very tentative very small messy piece, but this is one that won’t let go of me; but it’ll need time
– thanks everyone, hopefully doing shorter more frequent posts going forward 🙏 ❤️
