My Yesterday in Pictures Format
I’ve simply built my daily walking & painting up to the point where I need the time for these two vital parts of keeping me healthy and/or sane, lol!
My Day Ahead series posts will continue, but on a much more intermittent basis. Already it seems some of that series’ usefulness is being incorporated into this new series’ format, me yakking ‘bout what when on, on the yesterday part of my life anyway, lol! It’s a continuing experiment of course, so we’ll see 😊

Art on Jan 1st 2020 🎨

Lady of the Flowers (possible eventual title 😊) was (and still is today, Sat, Jan 04’20) my 1st day of of the new year and new decade work in-progress! I featured it in my new post about the new Gold Absorbent Ground I’m trying out and liking very much so far.
Yesterday the 6 year old and I studied it and I showed him my ideas of where and why to add more3 yellow to highlight the feeling for the picture.
That was interesting.
We got into a short discussion about what to do if one creates a work of art one likes, but whomever is receiving it wants something different done in it. I explained that, in the past, I’ve sometimes changed something, but other times I didn’t feel I could, either ability-wise or feeling-wise.
That left him in a bit of thought ❤️

Outside the Old Bakery & Emporium 7 a.m. 😊

Thursday, usually a Wednesday but changed due to New Years, we took down the Dec ‘19 Consignor’s show at the Old Bakery & Emporium.
Because the new Jan ‘20 also had to go up the same day, volunteers were asked if they could come in early. I’d initially planned to arrive round 9am with most of the others, but when Kay the curator let us know she’d be there by 7:30 to get a head start I asked I could go in then too.
Traffic was blessedly holiday & no-school lite!
I arrived a few minutes early and was able, on a weekday morning, stand in the middle of Congress Avenue and capture a few shots of the capital, Texas flag flapping, and Christmas tree lit! A very nice bonus!
I did suggest to the curator that next year we should start at 6am. With a half hour breakfast taco start 😊

Evening with the Grandchild (both of us) Learning About Tracing/Transfer Paper ❤️

So yesterday, a special projects purchase of black graphite paper (w/embossing pens) arrived, just in time for the 6 year old’s night-over. His 1st question was, “If we have pens, why do we need that paper?” 😊
Well, the answer turned out not as simple as I’d hoped.
I’d never used tracing or carbon paper before, always having used paint straight from the tube and more than willing to wing the image. Yes, I’ve been told a few times that showed, lol! 😂

It became apparent I shoulda also order tracing paper, but we did figure out a work around that didn’t require an emergency trip to the art store. I placed some paper below a page of dinosaurs he kinda liked (would have preferred more “real” ones 😊), carbon transfer paper in-between, and wallah!

We were all very very pleased to say the least 💕
Plus I was esp pleased the paper was fairly durable and not nearly at all as messy as I’d feared. Actually I don’t think we got a finger print transferred anyway it shouldn’t be! A bonus for grandma for sure! ❤️
