Birds at Pfluger Bridge Austin is an 11×14 oil painting I finished a little over 3 years ago, but never wrote up about individually on my blog.
I realized this was the case when I tried to find my WordPress image from an older blog post to include in my most recent post; about birds of course 😊
Why I hadn’t done a post, announcing when I’d uploaded it to Fine Art America is simply that I hadn’t gotten into that pattern yet, learned to want to do that. Now of course, I nearly always post when I upload something new to FAA. I’ve tried various approaches, starting a series from my 1st uploads in 2016, “most viewed” (which I also do more regularly now), and new uploads (which makes more sense, with my time constraints, ie, wanting time to also paint, stay fit at 70, and sometimes just do nothing, lol!)
You can see a variety of these differing approaches via – https://felipeadanlerma.com/?s=Fine+art+America .
This small painting, Birds at Pfluger Bridge Austin, itself is part of several other threads in my life.
I’d captured the photo for this painting when we lived on the other side of the Barton Creek Greenbelt, the eastern side closer to town, Lady Bird Lake, and the Hike & Bike Trail, of which, Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge touches on all three, crossing the lake, touching both the north and south sides of the trail, and offers walkers east of the greenbelt a way to and from town.
My collection of bird related work on FAA is at – https://felipeadan-lerma.pixels.com/art/birds .
Birds, I’ve come to realize, are related to my more recent attraction & concentration on figure work.
And creatively, this painting also represents the beginning of my shift away from water based oils, back to acrylics and (sorta, because there is much “back to”) with watercolors.
I sense I may be able to capture some of the softness and blending I love about oils, working acrylics onto light molding paste. And watercolors bring me much of that softness and blending I want, though without as much of the texture I also like, unless, again, I apply them onto light molding paste.
So a lot of junctures occurred for me in looking for an image of this painting to include in my previous post –
Soft colors, an abstracted dappleness (via the sky), and curving lines (figures & birds).
And, curiously, a reaching & blending into the sky –
Like my most recent painting –

And at that juncture of conjecture, lol! I close out for the day 😊
Some things, some times, are just meant to be felt ♥️
