Though I did start a watercolor pencil line drawing on a blank canvas of (male) Night Dancer’s partner (left side of a “potential” duet combo painting, nothing to show of it yet), I couldn’t let go of working this painting yet.

My sorta solution?

Upload it to my Affinity Photo on my iPad and play with it digitally 😊

I got enough of a sense of it to go ahead and make some of the changes, including the slightly improved head position of the figure after digitally experimenting with it —

Not perfect, not quite there yet, but definitely an improvement I think ☺️

I even softened the left side chest wall. Ironically, to me, this softens the body’s thrust without adding any sense of struggle, or taking away any strength.

In my own experience of movement, dance or yoga, once I have angled into a position of movement, and I’ve gained enough comfort to relax my form into the pose’s directional energy, that leading edge of me seems to soften into a sense of comfortable confidence.

Then, if (and when) I can’t hold my pose, or I teeter, I immediately go into alert and struggle to reposition – or I go out of my pose altogether. Not what I want in this image, lol! 😊

Visually, maybe my 4th paint in-lay image is less “happy” (less sparkly colors about), but is, I feel, more serene in strength.

Neither representation or creative expression is right or wrong.

In this case, it’s just my choice.

I’m not always, or very often, that intent on a particular expression. I’m usually fairly ok & happy to see what evolves and takes shape on my canvas. To a point of course, when I finally find the feel and look that appeals to me

But in this case, I seem to have a much quicker firmer feel for what I’d like to end up with —

And I guess that’s also something to be grateful for 🙏 😊

I’m gonna shift up gears for a bit, return to some older works in-progress, and will try and continue to update on how various images are coming along. Once one is done for sure, then I’ll upload to Fine Art America & post here on my site —

Thanks so much everyone! Stay well! ❤️
