June 03, 2022 – An Update on the Search for Answers to Prevent Another #Uvalde, Another #BuffaloNY

I’ve wanted to resume posts about my art and fitness, and my wife and I’s normal daily routines esp w/grandchildren ( aging gracefully ), but just hadn’t with the horrific tragedy in Uvalde, itself on the heals of the equally devastating hate massacre in Buffalo, New York.

The only way I can do this now, plus go ahead and start more consistently posting about other things also affecting us greatly, the extreme shortage of baby formula ( and the whys ), climate change ( like the 100s we’re getting in May here in Austin and how it’s already affecting our water supply, and of course the upcoming November mid-term elections that may decide if we’re on the road to stabilizing and improving our democracy – or slipping away into a possible authoritarian, ie, dictator style, way of life — something the United States has never ever completely slipped into ( some may argue we’re under a near CEO-style tyranny ; I think that’s still in the land of could-well-happen but hasn’t quite completely yet ).

Below are tweets and/or links etc referring to those above topics.

I’ll try and notate in the title if there’s a dominant topic.

Right now, it’s still : people murdered…

..en masse….

The tweets below are talking points.

I believe the media should have live debates, regularly – weekly or daily, with representatives of these and opposing and mediating views.

And then we should vote. As a nation. Without impediment to voting, including far away or scarce voting locations as per populations.

At least it’d be a start….

I support passage of The Voting Rights Act 🙏❤️😊

Voting, in our democracy, is the purest form of expression.

Dissenting, affirming, protesting –
– all flow through the form of the ballot, not, the bullet…

Stay well everyone – for oneself, and for those who need us most..the children….

    • So true, Francis – you & I’ve been in the military ( you more so than me ) and we both know no soldier, no matter his or her age, can just grab an assault rifle and begin handling and firing it! If our armed forces know that our soldiers need background checks and extensive training, where does that leave the current gun laws? Woefully unwarranted and reckless. To us as weapon owners or weapon victims….

      • Yes, and think of the civilian police. They are authorised to carry a weapon, but even when you start the academy, you cannot carry until you have passed firearms training. So if they require that of the civilian police, why not the same for civilians? And in the military it is the same thing, you are right. The laws do not reflect the 2nd amendment or the reality, they reflect the goal of the NRA and gun dealers and manufacturers who support it and of course, of the politicians that they have in their pocket. It is something incredible but quite real. All the best to you Felipe and best of luck with your art, which is something I do admire. Greetings from South Florida, where we are under a tropical storm watch and severe, nasty weather.
