It’s been since July 08, 2022 since I first posted about this work-in-progress, and it’s actually was begun late June with the pencil sketch of the woman dancing!

Here’s a comparison with the 1st actual painting lay-in from early July —

— the newer current version having a bit more nuanced depth and setting of the figure.

I’d considered renaming it Dancing in Blue, but my wife ( half French ) came up with, “Danseur en Bleu” ❤️ I like it 😊

And I wanted to give a shout out to Adam Zucker, who writes about the arts and education, and recently pointed out / reminded me, in his post of Aug 17, 2022, “Survival is Not Enough” – and I very much agree!

His work tends to be immersive and comprehensive and totally worth the read. Here’s an excerpt I hope will encourage you to read the rest of his post —

title is derived from the line “Because survival is insufficient,” which was first recited in the Star Trek Voyager episode “Survival Instinct” (1999), and more recently used as a recurrent motto within the novel and television series, Station Eleven. In both instances, the phrase refers to battling adversity in light of dystopian narratives. The apocalyptic climate of Emily St John Mandel’s Station Eleven (2014), takes place after a deadly pandemic has wiped out most of the world’s population, leaving groups of refugees to pick up the social, cultural and intellectual pieces from a world that no longer exists and carry on into uncertainty.

…when we are stressed and need distraction or a way we can make sense of our present reality, we are not turning to scientific journals or scholarly articles: we are looking for arts and humanities.

I support passage of The Voting Rights Act 🙏❤️😊

Voting, in our democracy, is the purest form of expression.

Dissenting, affirming, protesting –
– all flow through the form of the ballot, not, the bullet…

Stay well everyone – for oneself, and for those who need us most..the children….
