I was born at the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius and I’m Very Angry, but….

I remember crouching in 3rd grade hearing our teachers in the hallway saying lots of of good it’d do us kids anyway, with some guy somewhere saying he would bury us all from some island called Cuba and remember wondering what an island was 😊

And I remember hearing The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius some bit of stretch beyond a few years later – me and my friends still told time mostly by lunch time and when school got out, and music was something that was everywhere we were, like the sun and nighttime – and remember thinking, oh good now the bully kids would behave and my parents would be happy more often.

By my early 20s I’d begun to wonder what the hold up on that rosy scenario was 😊

Psychics and mystics and palm & life readers were like cars, roaming about everywhere we were, especially at the Esoteric Philosophy Center in Montrose in Houston, and they said a variety of mesh-up sometimes conflicting things :

‘That, we, humans, were like the Atlanteans, doomed to vanish due to out of control scientists raising half humans merged with powerful beasts. That we were entering the transition from the 6 Ray of Devotion, which was devolving into intolerance as it ended, and into the 7th ray of money and accountability.

Most of my friends and I’d usually say either, “So?” or “huh?”.

Eventually, having sorta lived through the killings of JFK, his brother, then MLK, and others, the Vietnam War had begun, continued, and resisted ending, til it finally did, leaving behind early childhood bullies I’d known who’d returned crippled, or unable to speak to anyone, or both.

Raising kids and growing old seemed to fill my slowly stretching decades of working and exercising and playing at painting, then acting, back to painting, to photography, to writing poems and stories, to photography again, and finally, to painting, with a little writing again. Mostly, and preferably, painting 🧑‍🎨🎨🖼️😊

Where I am now.

Taking my own photos, with all that was evident then to me and all that continues to come to me via memories of feelings and sensations and thoughts, each colored and muddled and cleansed with decades of new perspectives, and creating /finding variations within each photo I hadn’t recognized or realized were right here, in me, for me to see – I now see a wonderful opportunity and challenge in creating series of captured memories from my photos, and exploring/mining them for what I both remember, feel, and discover new ❤️

How else can I explain at this time to myself the equally valid visual interpretations I’m coming up with from images I captured that now seemingly mean so many previously unknown things to me?

I’m guessing I’ll never fully know, and maybe that’s part of the embedded mystery of our existence itself ☺️

So yes, I’m still very angry, and feel there’s more than good reasons to be. But I also feel that possibly the surviving animals of our Earth have held strong the solution – to use only what you need. And in extreme danger, huddle with friend and foe and walk slowly, strongly, together, in each other’s company for mutual survival….

Hopefully, I can delve into this new-to-me mystery of liking doing painted variations of an image I’d captured and like, developing each variation to its own completion.
Is that what creating musical variations is sorta like? Is it a form of empathy? And if so, is empathy a cause or effect? Or is empathy so essential it intertwines everything?

I don’t know. But I feel there’s something there..even if I can’t ever know it all, speck that I am, lol! Maybe that’s a blessing … 😊

What I’d like to do next re posting is do a short write up about each of the three paintings in this set, and continue painting of course. I already have a 2nd set of paintings I’m completing, based on a 2018 sunset in Vermont (5 canvases; some small), plus, have chosen a 2012 Paris image for a probable 3 paintings 3rd new set.

Below is my originating Vermont photo for my current 3 new paintings/studies shown top of page 🙏😊
