My Volunteer Work at OBE
Since early last year (2018) it’s been an honor to be able to help the staff take down and prepare for each month’s art shows in the fabulous upstairs gallery at Old Bakery & Emporium here in Austin.
I missed two months recently due to my gall bladder surgery, and may again miss the next couple of months after today’s hiatal hernia repair surgery, but I did get to help out this past Wednesday! 😊
It’s amazing talking with the various artists picking up and bringing in their work, and I’ve really missed that.
And today, this evening, the day of my operation, there’s an artist reception at the Old Bakery, free, 5 – 7 pm in the gallery. If you’re in Austin today, stop by. It’s right downtown directly across from the Texas State Capitol Building. And the latest show does continue all month!

If there’s one group or category of art or gift items almost everyone I’ve ever taken to visit the Bakery have bought, it’s this! Handcrafted towels, dolls, ear rings, caps, women’s tops — the list goes on! 😊
These are featured on what’s labeled the second level, but it’s only a few steps up from the ground floor.
In addition, there’s an elevator available to all the levels, including the gallery.
