October 09, 2022 – Post Surgery : Balancing My Daily Rebalancing Expectations

I was so busy struggling day-to-day for so many weeks – medically, chores ( baths, eating ), art pick ups & deliveries and fitful starts at painting – I never realized I’d ended up so tired + nearly a week’d gone by without blogging!

I also hadn’t realized til this week I’d built my steps to ‘tween 4-7K steps daily, same time I’d built back to 2-3 15-45 minute SilverSneakers Zoom classes also daily!

No wonder – I realized – why I looked, even to myself, so tired & crumpled, in this pic Sheila captured of my reassuring Max after a pretty sound beating his team took from the other team ❤️

Though everyone commented how well I was doing recovering, something I definitely needed to hear – it was also gratifying to hear the 9 year old’s Dad tell me, in just the right quiet tone, how tired I looked.

This outing, including the drive there & back amidst Austin City Limits festival weekend traffic 😊 turned out to also be a needed reset – of my own expectations!!

This reminds me of something I read from a financial writer at Elliott Wave International – the goal isn’t to make the most money I can ( from anything, art to investments ) but rather, to make money….

Moderation without excess.

Seems to be an appropriate life goal for me right now 🙏☺️
