October 09, 2022 – Post Surgery : Balancing My Daily Rebalancing Expectations
I was so busy struggling day-to-day for so many weeks – medically, chores ( baths, eating ), art pick ups & deliveries and fitful starts at painting – I never realized I’d ended up so tired + nearly a week’d gone by without blogging!

September 17, 2022 – Post Surgery : Continuing With Antibiotics
Having to resume antibiotics as one of my surgeons got lab results on a mucus sample from my surgery showing growth – so am blessedly kicking back til some blood clotting and fatigue fade away again 🙏

1st Visit to Old Bakery & Emporium Since My 2nd Surgery! 😊
What a treat doing something I’d nearly taken for granted! Each month, until my surgeries, I’d helped the staff at the Old Bakery take down the current month’s gallery show….

Why My Balance Needs Work After My Two Surgeries 😊
I chose to post this because I want folks who may have something similar (and I’ve been told gallbladder & hiatal hernia surgeries are very high in frequency in our country) that having the relatively benign procedure of having several small holes placed through one’s core, vs having the muscles sliced through the way hysterectomies…

My Day Ahead – Sept 25, 2019
“I could, I decided – after a side-by-side snack w/Sheila (hers very different & spicy 🌶 ) – spend a chunk of the evening trying to reach 7500+ steps or defer to mine & Dr Mirkin re recovery findings and, weighing that info, not force myself to.”
-
My Day Ahead – Sept 24, 2019
“I’d begun to assume I’d avoided the 1st surgery’s pattern of a quick rapid improvement shortly after the procedure, only to really go down in energy and focus for a good while….”
-
My Day Ahead – Sept 19, 2019
“Traffic was light, but I motioned to the filled recyclers – “We can cut through.” My arm had gone up and pointed, uninspired, slow as a retired greyhound’s nose remembering when it once couldn’t wait to go outside, but now really just as well rather stay put.”

My Day Ahead – Sept 18, 2019
“So with 2000+ steps already logged, I went out and crossed over to a pathway that leads down to Slaughter Creek then chose the east facing trail to see if I could finally find the bank of the creek.”
-
My Day Ahead – Sept 17, 2019
“By lap four I was warming up, reaching overhead, one arm first, then the other, reaching for nothing, happy to stretch. I pulled one arm first then the other across my chest and held it with my other arm. That felt good too.”

My Day Ahead – Sept 13, 2019
“I know she knew I knew she knew some things I was just too young to know yet…But she was in less a rush than even I have gotten to, or think I have, lol 😊 ”
-
My Day Ahead – Sept 12, 2019
“It was time, I’d decided, if possible, to allow my body to start telling me again where the line was between healthy exertion and healthy fatigue. The line shifts anyway, all the time, but – when I’m healthy – within a predictable range.”

My Day Ahead – Sept 11, 2019

-
My Day Ahead – Sept 10, 2019
“Was still planning on trying to go with Sheila to Golds Gym and just walk, but ‘tween not rested enough and five fire trucks showing up for a very quickly contained garage fire nearby, figured best to rest!” 😊
-
My Day Ahead – Sept 09, 2019
“Researching what else I can eat, found this quote I like, ‘You can start eating a soft sloppy diet from the day after your operation. Sloppy food is any food that is moist, can be broken into pieces with a fork, and does not require a lot of chewing.’”

What Should I Do Right Before My Surgery? Fix Up My Art Room!! 😊
“If my recovery from tomorrow’s hiatal surgery trails (as per the Dr’s) slightly longer than my emergency gallbladder surgery from the end of June, it’ll be early to mid November before I feel as able and wanting to do things as right now – sounds, with my wife’s help…”

Aging Gracefully – Walking’s Paying Off After Surgery, Step by Step 😊
My lesson is — slow is better than not at all. And slow is better than fast too fast, then not being able to move at all, lol!
