June 28, 2021 – Sun and Clouds Sang Dappled Light to Me – Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin Texas, Part 3

The interesting thing to me this time around, looking at the brightly lit pics above and the deeply shadowed ones below, is the distinct difference it makes — having dappled or varying light!

Alternating degrees of light and dark, warm and cool, things I’ve been seeing folks like Dianne Mize talk about in her art tips and YouTube videos – I can see it happening more easily in nature, and it’s making it easier for it to all make more sense to me ☺️

It even happens inside, in our homes, our interiors!

No wonder my daughters like plants in their homes so much! 🪴

And below is another of my circa 2000 oil paintings where I mostly accidentally created a dappled light piece of art, lol! 😊

I’m very much hoping, with more consciousness to the matter now, I’ll be making new art, with this idea in place!

It makes wonder if my recent fondness for line art to accent and ground my watercolor work is really an off-shoot, or parallel, to my emerging fascination with dappled light, like in those pictured below for my post of work I’ve taken for the reopening of the Old Bakery & Emporium here in Austin —

I’ll guess we’ll see, as I try to find a way to merge the two interests : line work in watercolor & dappled light ♥️
