June 27, 2022 – My Most Viewed Image this Past Week @FineArtAmerica, “Morning Light in Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin Poster” ( circa 2021 ) #AustinTexas #AustinPhotography
Last week my most viewed image on Fine Art America was an Austin sunset image ( circa 2017 ) and this week a recent 2021 early am summer shot, “Morning Light in Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin Poster” – an image I captured in the greenbelt on the Violet Crown trail 😊

October 19, 2021 – Turning 71 Feels Like Turning on the Spigots!
I’ve meandered around what to write for my birthday post this year, probably reflecting not exactly the chaos (though there’s enough of that, lol!) but the whirl of activity in my life right now – fitness activities, art – of all kind, family, and the stutteringly slow but certain shift from unbearable 6 month summer…

October 07, 2021 – Dappled Light, “Figures in a Landscape Study” : Calling It Done, Uploaded to Fine Art America
As is sometimes the case, I’m not totally satisfied with this piece, but I’ve posted it to Fine Art America, deciding I’ve done what I want with it, have learned a great deal, and have several working pieces benefiting from this effort; and for that, I’m very grateful ❤️ It captures enough of a feeling…

September 01, 2021 – I’ve reached that point in my life where my daily starting goal is to be rested and healthy
Though we still walk, mostly very early in the morning, before the 100+ degree heat index and 70+ dew point and humidity kick in, lol! – and I rely on Sheila’s fitness tracker for our steps, mine having konked out – and, we’ve had to give up going to classes at several of our preferred…

August 19, 2021 – Sometimes It Just Takes a Leap of Faith (with a little help)
My wife & I both take a lot of pleasure showing & teaching the 8 year old about the myriad mass of cultural and nutritional and miscellaneous details of living nowadays (sometimes as vs when “we” grew up, lol!) – but often enough, he likes to feel he’s returning the favor. He is almost always…

August 17, 2021 – My Newest Poster Upload @FineArtAmerica – Morning Light in Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin Texas Poster
It’s so strange yet so true of Austin’s Barton Creek Greenbelt (and Violet Crown Trail) that it is rich in nuance of nature & light. The morning I captured my image above is the same morning, simply by twisting back and to my left, the image of a young lady (Payton) leaping off a small…

August 12, 2021 – Jumping into the Water in Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin!
A bit back, as I posted the 2nd of June, after some unexpected but welcome heavy rains, water filled the usually fairly dry Barton Creek creek bed, and I discovered folks really like jumping off this rock into the water, lol!

July 28, 2021 – New 25×40 #Acrylic on Canvas In-Progress : Barton Springs Greenbelt Indian Summer
A chore heat filled day where my keyboard evidently is deciding it’s had it, lol! Hopefully I finish this post 😊 Basically I started the groundwork for my newest painting, acrylic, wanting to settle on my composition before hand, unlike how I handled my just finished watercolor, same size, where I inserted my figure at…

July 26, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New #Watercolor on Canvas Completed : Barton Springs Greenbelt Indian Summer
I just took another look at my newly completed painting (above) to try for some settled sentiment I can include for my post, and I do have that – some settled sentiment. I’m still digesting and assimilating what this new work means to me. Though I know it’s incomplete, because I also know this work…

July 25, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New Watercolor on Canvas in-progress, Developing the Right Figure to Add
As you can tell from my top pic, my efforts to progress from my value study and digital studies below are not going great, lol! I take solace from several things —

July 24, 2021 – My Newest Poster Upload @FineArtAmerica – Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Rocks at the Flats Poster
Yesterday posting about my resuming progress on a new watercolor on canvas (with absorbent ground) via beginning a study process for adding a figure to the nearly finished work, I mentioned I’d spent my 1st time at the nearby greenbelt in nearly 2 weeks! It was a pristine morning, warm, sunny, lightly breezy, and hardly…

July 23, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New Watercolor on Canvas in-progress, Preparing to Add a Figure
Like my prep work for my 1st watercolor Austin Greenbelt poster on paper, I placed my source image and line drawing in one side by side file to work from – blocking out our friend’s face for privacy. Then I decided I should probably do a digital value study too, lol!

July 22, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New Watercolor on Canvas in-progress
At 25×40 this new work has stretched my memories and my muscles of years ago when I did much larger work. I just figured it was time to explore working on canvas again for a bit 😊 Below, on the left, is the work as posted back July 11th about inlaying light modeling paste, working…

July 14, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 4, Finished Watercolor
Though not markedly different, my final watercolor rendition for Barton Springs Greenbelt Poster Version 2 has slightly more blue, a gentle easing of some of the edges from Dappled, when I’d removed the masking fluid I’d 1st applied before painting, and an overall flow with clarity I really like! 😊

July 12, 2021 – Sunday at the Greenbelt with Grandson and Music
Very quick post late Sunday for today, Monday July 12th 😊 Spent a full day with the 8 year old, at the Greenbelt, putting together an atelier for the bathroom, at the swimming pool, and generally getting worn out having a good time, lol! Grandson & I even got to listen to a little music…

July 11, 2021 – Water / AC Emergency Short Circuited Today’s Post, lol!
I was gonna write up a nice post on a new version of my Barton Creek Greenbelt poster, this one on a 25×40 inch stretched canvas, probably mixed media – if Light Molding Paste, watercolors, acrylics and pen and ink are mixed media 😊 An emergency situation with our AC and water derailed a few…

July 09, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 3, Dappled
The changes from Pale Blue to Lush are easy to see, but those from Lush to Dappled aren’t quite as apparent, the latter two being much closer in their final renditions…Again, as I’ve written in the series’ previous posts, I’m determined to see how an actual work changes, evolves (or not), vs starting a new…

July 07, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 2, Lush
Part 1 in this series goes into more detail of the “why” of doing multiple visual keepers of the differing stages of creating Barton Springs Greenbelt Version 2 ( Version 1’s creation being detailed here ) with each keeper variation of version not only uploaded to Fine Art America (FAA) for prints & gifts, but…

July 06, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 1, Pale Blue
Creating new uploaded-for-prints & gifts versions, from the same ongoing painted image, arose as an idea because of many reasons – both exploratory & practical…Though it might seem it very unpractical not to begin a new painting for each version variation, I’ve found I get too derailed; often off-track from my initial purpose.

June 29, 2021 – My Newest Poster Upload @FineArtAmerica – Barton Springs Greenbelt Evening Light
I was so fortunate the other evening, having gone a bit earlier than usual, the day having cooled the tiniest bit, enough for me to chance it, and I caught this sight right off!…A little later I was offered a chance to catch a shot of a lady and her dog near this same spot.

June 28, 2021 – Sun and Clouds Sang Dappled Light to Me – Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin Texas, Part 3
I’m starting a small mini-series of posts about dappled light as a way of helping me get my head around why I like it so much and how I might replicate it in pigment better…Turns out many of my more favored photos have some degree of dappled light to them. Not all of my favs…

Finally finished my line art watercolor poster via my Austin Barton Creek Greenbelt photo, and, uploaded it to Fine Art America…It was quite a learning process for me that, though derailed for a bit with chores etc, finally felt finished!

June 20, 2021 – Happy Father’s Day!
I’d had several ideas what to post for today, got mired in different possible thoughts, finally settled on saving posting anything til I had my morning walk at the greenbelt, my Father’s Day morning at Barton Springs Greenbelt 😊

June 15, 2021 – My New Upload @FineArtAmerica – Violet Crown Trail Morning (Digital Art) Poster
Though most of my hikes to the Barton Springs Greenbelt nearby are still exploratory, even when taking the 8 year old along 😊, I am beginning to recognize when I need, and want, to be there.
