A 2019 blog post with this image here on my site –

My painting, Barton Springs Autumn Austin was actually my most viewed on Fine Art America back the 2nd week of September 2019! 😊
And was my featured image for quite a number of my various blog posts over the years.
It looks like I 1st used it as my featured image for a 3 part series on meditation – back in February of 2011! And, as you can tell below, the picture quality reflected both inexperience and lack of a much better camera, lol!

Part 3 post –

Eventually, a couple of years ago, this painting sold, and lots of folks were very complimentary of it, and I remember speaking with the buyer’s wife, about art, my thoughts and ideas about the painting, and I remember saying that I’d had it in storage a long time, and when I’d finally taken it out, after more than a decade tucked away, it looked better even to me than I’d remembered.
And what I realized, and mentioned to her was, I realized – and remembered – how unhappy I’d been with the work when I’d finished it, how bumpy and “unfinished” it looked and felt to me; and I realized I told her (and told myself really), that the oil paint, very thickly applied, had finally settled, leaving me with the image I’d had in my mind, but (felt) I couldn’t produce.
Years later I read that Monet, in the latter years, sometimes stacked his in-progress work against wall for years, letting them settle and dry before resuming work on them.
And then, very recently, on one of Dianne Mize’s art tip videos about watercolors, said basically the same thing in re to letting watercolor sit, at least over night, to let watercolor “do its thing” – mixing and blending its pigments in and on the paper.
Some things just take time. Some don’t, lol! But it seems good to know, there are those things that have their own time to optimize – and I’m thinking of myself, and relationships, and seemingly trickier things like democracies – since they involve “lots” of myselfs and relationships (to say the least) 😊
And lastly, still optimizing within my own work, is my continuing development of figures!
Take care everyone! Stay inquisitive and exploratory, and most of all – optimistic! ♥️
