May 19, 2022 – Hardest / Best Part of My Strength Class Recently – Releasing Myself a Smile

It’s nearing 8pm and I’m trying to apply an exercise lesson our online SilverSneakers instructor, Michelle, brought up a few times today – smile 😊

I did get in about 1/2 hour of painting via Sheila making breakfast, snuck in snippets of exercise, then handled a run of chores nearly the rest of the day – but it was that 15 minute exercise this morning ( Wednesday ), slightly sore from the day before, tired, but pushing on, then being cued, to smile, several times, by Michelle, that shook me most out of my aging-funk….

Smiling, unexpectedly, for no reason than to smile itself, was shocking!

In a good way, yes, but really?

Smiling?

Not all the time, right? Just remembering to, when there’s no reason not to.

And allowing myself to smile.

Why not? Do I have to have a specific reason to smile? To become glad to be alive? Despite all the crud we’re made aware of every moment day & night by the media? And yes, some, ok, most of it, stuff we should be aware of.

But still, if we do all we can, from the position we inhabit in our lives, and not do destructive evil things ourselves, when do we smile then, if not now?

Even for just a moment. Even if just to test ourselves, tease ourselves ❤️
