Fitness Sites My Wife & I Often Read 🧘‍♂️ 😊 🏃

Our Favorite Sites for Seniors Fitness

SilverSneakers

Sheila and I took over half a dozen instructor classes through SilverSneakers about nine years ago, and taught senior classes at the League City Senior Center we could drive to from Galveston. We also taught classes at The Y in Burlington Vermont. Both wonderful experiences 💕

And of course we still take classes the many places they’re offered. Plus, where they aren’t, you’ll often see the same instructors there leading “seniors” classes 😊

In addition, SilverSneakers has a wealth of fun exercise routine videos on their site.

We’ve found these can be very handy for at home or on vacation!

Dr. Mirkin

We really like Dr Mirkin’s weekly newsletter articles, plus they’re also available on his site. He’s (now) a senior like ourselves, and very active (he and his wife ride a tandem bike together!)

His advice on things like recovery (which I’ve linked to in some of my posts) are in-depth, yet broken down to a level I can usually understand 😊

His “about” info includes –

practicing physician for more than 50 years and a radio talk show host for 25 years, Dr. Mirkin is a graduate of Harvard University and Baylor University College of Medicine. He is one of a very few doctors board-certified in four specialties: Sports Medicine, Allergy and Immunology, Pediatrics and Pediatric Immunology.

At times he’ll also speak to some of the aging / fitness issues he and his wife have faced.

WebMD

WebMD is fun to explore sometimes, and of course their information is (as far as I know as a layman) top notch.

What’s particularly fun for us are the numerous quiz’s that test what one thinks they know 😊 – from very serious to, well, lighter (even if still important) —

Like from “Myths and Facts About Genital HPV” to “Shoe size”!!!

If there’s not hundreds of quizzes (their spelling, and I’m not counting them, lol!) there’s many “many” dozens. I’ll go with hundreds 😊

About the Above Sites

These are the places Sheila and I most visit or read something from. Some she reads more than me, and vice versa 😊 I’ll be adding personal observation notations to each one very soon, but first need to practice what we learned – listen to your body & rest as needed 🙏

And there’s many many more we like too, but the above are among the ones we’ve followed & gone back to for over a decade.

Also Favored Sites

I’ll probably add an “Also Favored Sites” section later to supplement the list above.

I hope these are helpful for you and, as always, check with your medical provider for guidance.

Have a Fitness Site? Post it in the Comments! 😊

I do moderate my comments, so please, no spam, only sites that offer information to help folks with their fitness – thanks! 🙏

I do like to point out I pick my selections to showcase from my Amazon searches. May not always be the case, or wholly always the case, but for now, I prefer picking titles and book covers and gift items that just really appeal to me. There’s lots more to choose from, but only have so much room, lol! I hope you enjoy —

Thanks so much everyone! 😊

    1. Oh, Cindy, so nice of you to say! 😊 But she’s the one who 2001 got me back into being active, and it’d be another 6 years before I even started losing some of the weight I’d accumulated – and obviously didn’t want to let go of, lol 😂
