  • July 26, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New #Watercolor on Canvas Completed : Barton Springs Greenbelt Indian Summer

I just took another look at my newly completed painting (above) to try for some settled sentiment I can include for my post, and I do have that – some settled sentiment. I’m still digesting and assimilating what this new work means to me. Though I know it’s incomplete, because I also know this work…

  • July 25, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New Watercolor on Canvas in-progress, Developing the Right Figure to Add

As you can tell from my top pic, my efforts to progress from my value study and digital studies below are not going great, lol! I take solace from several things —

  • July 24, 2021 – My Newest Poster Upload @FineArtAmerica – Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Rocks at the Flats Poster

Yesterday posting about my resuming progress on a new watercolor on canvas (with absorbent ground) via beginning a study process for adding a figure to the nearly finished work, I mentioned I’d spent my 1st time at the nearby greenbelt in nearly 2 weeks! It was a pristine morning, warm, sunny, lightly breezy, and hardly…

  • July 23, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New Watercolor on Canvas in-progress, Preparing to Add a Figure

Like my prep work for my 1st watercolor Austin Greenbelt poster on paper, I placed my source image and line drawing in one side by side file to work from – blocking out our friend’s face for privacy. Then I decided I should probably do a digital value study too, lol!

  • July 22, 2021 – Where I Left Off Before Our Trip, New Watercolor on Canvas in-progress

At 25×40 this new work has stretched my memories and my muscles of years ago when I did much larger work. I just figured it was time to explore working on canvas again for a bit 😊 Below, on the left, is the work as posted back July 11th about inlaying light modeling paste, working…

  • July 21, 2021 – Three Weeks Running! My Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, Summer is a Lady : #Watercolor on Paper #ContemporaryImpressionism

It seems extra special to have Summer is a Lady repeat again as most viewed, joining a few other posts with repeated viewing rankings, some even crossing months or even years on my site 💕 A couple good examples are —

  • July 20, 2021 – 1st Trip in Over 3 Years

Time to wrap up our short but wonderful stay with the 8 year old and other grandparents ♥️ Soon there’ll be another sunrise.

  • July 19, 2021 – 1st Trip in Over 3 Years

I’d forgotten the feel of an immense sky above us – that’s the other grandpa in pic ❤️ It was one of the things I took for granted in Galveston, was amazed about in Costa Rica, and very much surprised about along Lake Champlain in Vermont 😊 Big skies!

  • July 18, 2021 – 1st Trip in Over 3 Years

So early in the morning, 1st twilight had barely begun, but the lights from homes and boats dotted the night and gave me this lovely unintentionally watercolor-ish night shot from my iPhone 😊

  • July 17, 2021 – 1st Trip in Over 3 Years

An aquarium visit proved interesting, fun and educational 😊 Probably the most important being that all creatures, no matter their color, size, or type of life..need connection – love, most of us would say ♥️

  • July 16, 2021 – 1st Trip in Over 3 Years

These are short posts with an image or two depending on time computer posting time available. Storyline is grandparents taking the youngest grandchildren to visit other grandparents 💕

  • July 15, 2021 – 1st Trip in Over 3 Years

These are short posts with an image or two depending on time computer posting time available. Storyline is grandparents taking the youngest grandchildren to visit other grandparents 💕

  • July 14, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 4, Finished Watercolor

Though not markedly different, my final watercolor rendition for Barton Springs Greenbelt Poster Version 2 has slightly more blue, a gentle easing of some of the edges from Dappled, when I’d removed the masking fluid I’d 1st applied before painting, and an overall flow with clarity I really like! 😊

  • July 13, 2021 – Two Weeks Running! My Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, Summer is a Lady : #Watercolor on Paper

Though not completely unusual for one of my images to be most viewed more than one week at Fine Art America, it’s also not typical 😊 That I particularly like this painting does make it extra nice!

  • July 12, 2021 – Sunday at the Greenbelt with Grandson and Music

Very quick post late Sunday for today, Monday July 12th 😊 Spent a full day with the 8 year old, at the Greenbelt, putting together an atelier for the bathroom, at the swimming pool, and generally getting worn out having a good time, lol! Grandson & I even got to listen to a little music…

  • July 11, 2021 – Water / AC Emergency Short Circuited Today’s Post, lol!

I was gonna write up a nice post on a new version of my Barton Creek Greenbelt poster, this one on a 25×40 inch stretched canvas, probably mixed media – if Light Molding Paste, watercolors, acrylics and pen and ink are mixed media 😊 An emergency situation with our AC and water derailed a few…

  • July 10, 2021 – Reblog : Monet, Morisot, Renoir and the birth of Impressionism, via Christie’s (circa Valentines 2017)

Though over over 4 years old, and the auction I assume more than well over, the article itself I thought was very nice! Interesting observations, basic and to the point! Plus great visuals – for all 3 featured impressionists : Monet, Morisot and Renoir…Timeless artists all 3, it matters little the date of this article…

  • July 09, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 3, Dappled

The changes from Pale Blue to Lush are easy to see, but those from Lush to Dappled aren’t quite as apparent, the latter two being much closer in their final renditions…Again, as I’ve written in the series’ previous posts, I’m determined to see how an actual work changes, evolves (or not), vs starting a new…

  • July 08, 2021 – Reblog, “Street Level” via Tiffany Arp-Daleo

It’s been a snoozy hazy hot day here in Austin for me and the only thing I could motivate myself to do beyond the host of chores needing doing was share this wonderful new work from an artist I’ve been lucky to know a bit now, and even luckier to share some of her work…

  • July 07, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 2, Lush

Part 1 in this series goes into more detail of the “why” of doing multiple visual keepers of the differing stages of creating Barton Springs Greenbelt Version 2 ( Version 1’s creation being detailed here ) with each keeper variation of version not only uploaded to Fine Art America (FAA) for prints & gifts, but…

  • July 06, 2021 – Creating New Version Variations on My Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Poster Template via the Creation of Just One New Painting, Part 1, Pale Blue

Creating new uploaded-for-prints & gifts versions, from the same ongoing painted image, arose as an idea because of many reasons – both exploratory & practical…Though it might seem it very unpractical not to begin a new painting for each version variation, I’ve found I get too derailed; often off-track from my initial purpose.

  • July 05, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Week @FineArtAmerica, Summer is a Lady : #Watercolor on Paper

Though uploaded to Fine Art America late in the week’s cycle, Summer is a Lady easily outpaced all other views for this past week ❤️ Being a variation of a previous watercolor created on the same line art template I’d created, I wrote a blog post on their similarities, including their titles – and, how…

  • Happy 4th of July 2021! 🇺🇸

Though a bit of a reblog from last year, so very much has changed for the better, with the promise of more positive change coming heart — ❤️

  • July 03, 2021 – When is a Title a Gimmick and When is it Just Right? Example: Summer is a Lady

Those who may be new to my site here may be asking, “so what’s the gimmick in that title?” 😊 Those who do frequent my site will probably recall this work below, Spring is a Lady —

  • July 02, 2021 – Setting Up a Working Art Room, 1st Time Since Our Move, ie, 2+ Months!

Had hoped to put up another art reblog, I posted a couple really good ones recently I think, but also wanted to paint but couldn’t ’cause I’d have to taken over too much of the kitchen table for too long, lol!…Though I basically only moved a “lot” of boxes around, not really resolving my space…

  • July 01, 2021 – Reblog/Review : Water and Dappled Light (Oils) via Painting Coach, Chris Fornataro, on YouTube

Someone new to my reblog series of posts, Chris Fornataro, the Paint Coach, on You Tube, presents a short oil painting tutorial/demo on creating dappled light 😊

  • June 30, 2021 – Reblog/Review : Dappled Shade via Dianne Mize

Those following my blog know I’ve been focused on understanding and hopefully recreating the effects of dappled light, at least more consciously 😊 , in my art, and Dianne Mize’s short YouTube Quick Tip tutorial is perfect for me!

  • June 29, 2021 – My Newest Poster Upload @FineArtAmerica – Barton Springs Greenbelt Evening Light

I was so fortunate the other evening, having gone a bit earlier than usual, the day having cooled the tiniest bit, enough for me to chance it, and I caught this sight right off!…A little later I was offered a chance to catch a shot of a lady and her dog near this same spot.

  • June 28, 2021 – Sun and Clouds Sang Dappled Light to Me – Barton Springs Greenbelt, Austin Texas, Part 3

I’m starting a small mini-series of posts about dappled light as a way of helping me get my head around why I like it so much and how I might replicate it in pigment better…Turns out many of my more favored photos have some degree of dappled light to them. Not all of my favs…

  • “Everybody Counts, Or Nobody Counts” – Bosch, via Amazon Prime : Is the Canary in the Coal Mine Streaming to Us on TV?

Bosch, one of Amazon Prime’s most popular original series, is back for its 7th and final season, and it’s clearly up to its consistently interesting topic-charged story line!

  • June 24, 2021 – My New Upload @FineArtAmerica – Barton Springs Greenbelt Austin Texas Poster

Finally finished my line art watercolor poster via my Austin Barton Creek Greenbelt photo, and, uploaded it to Fine Art America…It was quite a learning process for me that, though derailed for a bit with chores etc, finally felt finished!

  • June 23, 2021 – 2nd Update for Delivering Art for the Summer Reopening of The Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas

Yesterday the 8 year old and I delivered my full set of 12×18 Volleyball posters to the Old Bakery & Emporium and Mike, one of several long time consistent folks to know there, was kind enough to pose with the Texas Capitol Bldg seen through the window 😊

I’d had several ideas what to post for today, got mired in different possible thoughts, finally settled on saving posting anything til I had my morning walk at the greenbelt, my Father’s Day morning at Barton Springs Greenbelt 😊

  • June18, 2021 – What Makes Dappled Light Work? It Almost Always Looks Good!

Being in and around a changing if steady light at the greenbelt near us has given me the visual impetus to actually think about something I’ve long liked in much of Renoir’s and other impressionists’ art work – dappled light.

  • June 17, 2021 – Update for Delivering Art for the Reopening of The Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas

Almost a month ago I posted pics of Sheila and I making our 1st visit in over a year to the Old Bakery & Emporium where I show and sell a variety of images and writings…One of the nicer surprise developments has been a request to offer prints of my 7 unit Volleyball series.

  • June 15, 2021 – My New Upload @FineArtAmerica – Violet Crown Trail Morning (Digital Art) Poster

Though most of my hikes to the Barton Springs Greenbelt nearby are still exploratory, even when taking the 8 year old along 😊, I am beginning to recognize when I need, and want, to be there.

  • June 08, 2021 – Walking in Barton Creek With My New Waterproof Hiking Sandals, Video and Pics

I hoped to build on yesterday’s video and think I did grab a decent one. The pic above is a screen shot from today’s video below –Unless I get lucky, I’m finding I like picking my own frame for the video’s thumbnail, since I often then use it for my header and my “featured image”…

  • June 07, 2021 – Standing on a Rock in Barton Creek, Two Videos and a Selfie

Six weeks ago today I posted the two pics below…Quite a different scene from that in the above video after intermittent rains this past week, or the today’s 2nd video end of my post 😊
