  • June 06, 2021 – Reblog : The Impressionist Art of Seeing and Being Seen (Berthe Morisot in England; via the New York Times; by Jason Farago)

Seldom have I enjoyed an art critique post, visually or intellectually, as much as I enjoyed this visually detailed, historically grounded narrative into “some” of what the Impressionist movement was about, even if not apparent at the time – ie, much like our own times will need some reflection and commentary to become more fully…

  • June 05, 2021 – Amazon Prime Days Almost Here – June 21 & 22!

I’m very glad to present this reminder or new-to-you information that Amazon’s Prime Day, with typically huge sales rolling across two days, is nearly here! 😊

  • June 04, 2021 – Some Days Are a Bust, Some Days Something Just Busts, Today was the Latter, Today was a Good Day

I got to thinking – maybe this was fate’s way of letting me know that yeah, it’s ok, good even, to keep count – but – I kinda got this down now. How to pace, daily. How to….

  • June 03, 2021 – My Most Viewed Post on My Site in May, “Beginning a New Month in a New Location on Our 40th Anniversary”

So many beginnings the 1st of May for my wife and I. It was Sheila and mine’s 40th anniversary, we’d just moved into a new apt close (we didn’t begin to realize how close! 😊) to Barton Springs Greenbelt here in Austin, and of course a new month of blog posts!

  • June 02, 2021 – Water in the Barton Springs Greenbelt!

Though this looks exciting, this is definitely not something I’ll be trying soon. The young man, Matt, asked if I’d take his picture jumping off the small cliff, and was savvy enough to add, “and in case I don’t make it!”

  • June 01, 2021 – Memorial Day Weekend Review

My Memorial Day Weekend – long, wet, and very enjoyable! Thanks of course to the so very many who sacrificed to make this relative time of peace possible. I served in the….

  • May 31, 2021 – The Old American Artist Twitter Excerpt Series, Number I.2.2 – with Commentary

So many moments like this, in this and any story I’ve written, are echoes of actual individual, usually unexpected, experiences that not only imprinted themselves on me, like here..but simultaneously….

  • May 30, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Week @FineArtAmerica, ala Monet Girl With Umbrella

Using mostly Daniel Smith watercolors and two small brushes, I was able to keep the edges of image within the white space of the panel, and worked out something I felt good about.

  • May 29, 2021 – My 1st New Painting Since Before Our Move : Barton Springs Greenbelt Poster Series, Part 4, Almost Done?

There’s only tiny subtle differences between the current version and the image on my previous post, and I thought I was done, satisfied that is – but I’m not.

  • May 28, 2021 – Beginning My 1st New Painting Since Before Our Move : Barton Springs Greenbelt Poster Series, Part 3

I’d hoped to fully finish my 1st work on about a month (due to our move) but there’s some finishing I want to do, plus, after 100 degree heat index most the day a storm’s blown through with straight line winds, hail, and (the good part) much cooler temps!

  • May 27, 2021 – Beginning My 1st New Painting Since Before Our Move : Barton Springs Greenbelt Poster Series, Part 2

“…the blending going on with this smooth side is surprising and very promising in itself.”

  • May 26, 2021 – Beginning My 1st New Painting Since Before Our Move (1 Month+) : Barton Springs Greenbelt Poster Series

It’s late already today, but wanted to show the beginning of what I’ve been up to the last 3-4 days, starting my 1st new painting since before our move! At or just over a month – but I’m so glad I’m pushing pigment again, lol!

  • May 25, 2021 – Delivering Art for the Reopening of The Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas

Today Sheila and I took a selection of my prints and originals to the Old Bakery & Emporium. It was a warm welcoming reminder of what everyone involved with the Old Bakery, artists and personnel alike, have missed for over two years!

  • May 24, 2021 – 1st Episode of “Hacks” on HBO Max – “There is No Line” with Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder – 4 Stars + Very Promising

I immediately started liking “Hacks” from the 1st few minutes, while Sheila had to warm up to it over the course of the 1st episode. That’s ok, it took her 3 tries when I first met her to get her to go to lunch w/me, lol!

  • May 23, 2021 – Choosing Art for the Reopening of The Old Bakery and Emporium

Early next week I’ll be going to the Old Bakery & Emporium as they prepare to hopefully reopen late June or early July!

  • May 22, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, Waxing Moon at Sunset

Sometimes there’s no way around it, it’s a tough haul. And sometimes nature’s there to remind us – things are getting brighter 💕

  • May 21, 2021 – First Tentative Dabs at Doing Art Again! (even if digital)

Week ago I uploaded my 1st image of the greenbelt near our new location in Austin (off one of my blog posts), and I’ll readily admit, I’ll think some of images since then are even more impressive – but – I really like a lot of things ’bout this pic (beyond the great memory of…

  • May 20, 2021 – Blowing the Day (sorta) in a Good Way

“…most the rest of the day, after mid-afternoon, was basically blown having the 8 year old over ❤️ So it’s only sorta blown, lol!…As has been the case in the past, I have a few shots of the day 😊 ”

  • May 19, 2021 – Reflecting, and Getting a Grip on My Life Chores, lol!

Rain threatened or fell most the day, but left an imprint of beauty at the end of day…That’s how I’ve begun to feel after another long day….

  • March 18, 2021 – Tweets That Caught My Eye on Twitter – Ros @Deli60Ros #InspirationalBeauty

Besides being a beautiful tweet image, Ros’ quote via Jacinto Benavente struck me as something so true and so vital to our well-being, individually and for all of us, I wanted to share it with everyone ❤️

  • May 17, 2021 – Searching for Old Images Without Names or Descriptions Among My WordPress Media Files

I had a heck of a time finding the above pic of Sheila in my Wordpress media files today when I’d updated the post and wanted to tweet it so I could use the tweet in today’s Random image post!…Why? Because back then, in Oct of 2014, about 3 1/2 years into having a blog…

  • May 17, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, Morning View Walk in a Light Rain

I left off our car at a shop we’re trying out near our place for numerous routine minor stuff and walked the short distance back. Luckily I had an umbrella….

  • May 16, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, After a Light Rain Barton Creek

It didn’t rain heavy, but it did rain off and on steadily, lol! And more of the same, some heavier, might come our way next 3 days or so. There was just enough rocks still above water I could walk out and….

  • May 15, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, Bird Friends at Our Balcony

Granted, my real life observation of birds is relatively limited, I’ve never seen this before, one Cardinal feeding two! Wonderful really, so amazed at the joy of such a tiny slice of nature ❤️ To say it’s adorable seems nearly a cliche, but adorable it is!

  • May 14, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, First Bird to Visit Our New Balcony Brings a Friend

Adding on to yesterday’s pic of our 1st bird visitor to our new balcony at our new location is, I assume 😊, the same little bird, but with a friend, her red feathered boy cardinal I think! The expressions, I think, are priceless!

  • May 13, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, First Bird to Visit Our Balcony in Our New Location

A simple pic tonight, a simple mingling of sentiments – innocence, curiosity, hunger….

  • May 13, 2021 – Our #1 Learned Lesson This Move : Number the Boxes and Make a Digital List!

“Such a simple idea, and Sheila says she’s either read or heard something similar, but only occurred to me this morning searching for random items I must’ve stuffed into a box with other stuff and now can’t find them – number each box, make a list of….”

  • May 10, 2021 – Reblog : Mother’s Day, 2021 via Abigail Johnston

Yesterday I wrote a slightly unconventional Mother’s Day in terms of my usual posts, and today I saw a belated Mother’s Day post via Abigail Johnston via her site, No Half Measures, Living Out Loud, that spoke out to me….

  • May 09, 2021 – This Mother’s Day : The True Starting Point of the New Aquarian Age?

“Maybe there’s more than a curious reason my wife is Aquarius sun to my own Aquarian moon. And my own mom is my polar opposite – and thus compliment – on my solar wheel.”

  • May 07, 2021 – Reblog/Review : Luminosity in Watercolor via Dianne Mize

As usual, what’s especially nice about Dianne Mize’s relatively short Quick Tip YouTube videos, is not only the amount of information she relays to us, but how she relays it, generously giving examples both on her palette and her painting paper of what she’s discussing – in this case, creating a sense of luminosity with…

  • May 06, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, Cactus Flowers

Another of my idea-searches for something at least relatively easy for me to post when I’d rather be painting, eating, sleeping, walking, or other random unrelated surprise opportunities the day might bring 😊

  • May 02, 2021 – Contemplation Sunday : Moving During COVID-19, Exploring New Surroundings, Family, Art

“Sunshine and higher temps broke out after nearly a week of slight to moderate rain and cloud cover…Like most things in life, the cooling off before the big heat of summer was a welcome relief, and the return of sunshine and ability to get around with slip-sliding was also. Variability, in some things, must be…

  • May 01, 2021 – Beginning a New Month in a New Location on Our 40th Anniversary

Not quite what my wife and I had envisioned a year ago, anticipating our 40th wedding anniversary, but we’re grateful for where we’re at in our lives and still around 💕

  • April 29, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid, 1st Look at the Roads and Woods Nearby

Sheila and I took a short 1/2 hour walk yesterday morning exploring some of the streets nearby. Maybe since we’re so near the green belt, most the streets and area around us is rumply and hilly-ish, not nearly as flat as where we lived before.
