December 10, 2021 – 2 New 8×10 #AcrylicPaintings, A New Moon (#ContemporaryImpressionism) and Dreams of the Sea (#AbstractPainting)
Impulsively, or lets say “creatively” 😊 — I decided to start 2 smaller-than-I’d-been-working on paintings, 2 : 8x10s on canvas. I had no plan, other than trying out two differing approaches to begin with….

December 08, 2021 – My New Minimalist Art Experiment, “#AbstractMinimalism 2” – Umpteenth Photo Capture, lol! 3rd Upload Version to #FineArtAmerica! I May Have it!
Finally, with a particular lighting, and using my Canon compact, and – adjusting the photo a bit with both my iPhone’s image settings and in Affinity Photo, I think I have about as close as I’d get without a professional scan.

December 07, 2021 – My New Minimalist Art Experiment, “Abstract Minimalism 2” – So Subtle I Can’t Capture an Accurate Shot!

December 06, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Past Week @FineArtAmerica, Summer is a Lady
The holidays are upon us, especially if one counts them as extending to Valentines Day, my wife’s birthday ❤️ So it’s especially nice to see this beautiful image crop up again after being most viewed on my Fine Art America site 5 weeks in a row late this past summer!

December 04, 2021 – Delivering New Art to the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – Peace, a New Holiday Painting
Peace, my delivered painting, itself has gone through several metamorphoses to completion, starting way back to August this year (2021) when I was tentatively calling it Holiday Walk; I’d posted about it early September – September 08, 2021 – Developing 2 New Figure Paintings on Light Molding Paste on Canvas – 1 Watercolor, 1 Acrylic…

December 02, 2021 – My Minimalist Art Experiment, “Abstract Minimalism 1 (in-progress) Part 2, Major Shift
The large blue area (which I loved) had to be muted (or change the other orange/red areas). Blue bottom areas were also muted. The white/yellow glaze over the blue area tinting it into green. But, do I want to do more? Do I need to do more?

December 01, 2021 – My Minimalist Art Experiment, “Abstract Minimalism 1 (in-progress) Part 1, a Beginning
A funny thing happened on my way to my newest attempt to correctly ( ie, satisfyingly ) extrapolate a detail shot ( variations of which I’m calling, “Approach” ) of one of my paintings (Autumn Passage) — — during the 2nd lay-in, after applying Light Molding Paste over the canvas, I ended up, when I’d…

November 28, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Past Week @FineArtAmerica, Heart Fragment
If it was an amazing process to see older photos and artwork show up on my most viewed list last week (and it was 😊) then this batch is incredible! Work from so many years have shown up, and such a variety! It tells me, one can never quite tell what folks might be looking…

November 27, 2021 – LOL! I Don’t Like It, But I WANT It! : Preparing More Paintings and Applications for Places to Show and Sell!!
I squashed together what I could to show a “fair” sampling of my work recently finished or in-progress right now. There’s more, tucked here and there among these, lol! And on another wall! I choose to consider that a good problem 😊 Seeing these together like tis, If I had to choose one thing tying…

November 26, 2021 – Working on Paintings; In-Progress : 2 New Lay-ins ( “Heart Fragment” and “Approach” ) Based on Details from Two Existing Paintings
This has been something I’ve toyed with and talked about for a bit now — finding / picking a detail fragment of an existing painting (or photo etc) from which to base new work on. And I shoulda caught on to how well this might work for me, in terms of creativity and viewership, with…

November 24, 2021 – Working on Paintings; In-Progress : Valentines 2022, In-Progress Since Early October, lol!
Not quite finished, but looking fairly good, especially considering back in early October I thought, “Yeah, I can finish this quick then save it for early next year.” Now, I’m thinking, really? Will I really finally get this finished by January next year, lol!

November 22, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Past Week @FineArtAmerica, Walking in Light
I particularly like the look and feel of Walking in Light, the sway of colors synced with the vegetation and figure walking in an easy light ❤️ This post I’m including a pic of more of my images on the most viewed info I get from Fine Art America, just ’cause the array of colors…

November 20, 2021 – Working on Paintings; In-Progress : Night Dancer, or Possibly, Duet, Part 2
Though I did start a watercolor pencil line drawing on a blank canvas of (male) Night Dancer’s partner (left side of a potential duet combo painting, nothingto show of it yet), I couldn’t let go of working this painting yet. My sorta solution?

November 19, 2021 – Working on Paintings; In-Progress : Night Dancer, or Possibly, Duet
First, I did work on my previous in-progress post’s work, Butterfly Starburst, adding some grey-greenish lighter tone streams to the white streams on the left side of the painting. I’ll give my eyes a rest from it, see it new in a few day, then see if maybe it’s done 😊 Second, regarding the iffy…

November 18, 2021 – Working on Paintings; In-Progress : Butterfly Starburst
I’ve mentioned a few posts back I now have “lots” of paintings in progress – a good thing, a fun thing, and a slightly problematic thing for me in re to blog posts, well, my blog posts, lol! What I’m gonna try, with a day or 2 lag on the in-progress work posted (I’d like…

November 17, 2021 – Delivering New Art to the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – 1 Painting & 2 Prints
Just a very quick note to say I restocked a few pieces at the Old Bakery & Emporium here in Austin. One, the SRV photo left side is a replacement for one sold, and my State Capital photo is back in 1st time since when the pandemic had closed the Bakery way back, and Autumn…

November 14, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Past Week @FineArtAmerica, Dance, #AcrylicPainting
Another interesting set of most seen of my images on Fine Art America, this for the 1st week in November. A recent and an older fall-autumn painting showed up. Plus a 3 year old small BW oil (w/red on the rower), plus 2 more very recent abstracts, including one (The Earth Sends Its Prayers) I…

November 12, 2021 – New #Acrylic #Watercolor Upload @FineArtAmerica – Walking in Light
Back near mid-October I posted about beginning a couple of new projects and featured my initial layin image below-left. The simple shift to the final image is a bit deceiving, as both the foreground and background had more of the intense coloring, some of which came off when I removed the masking fluid I’d applied.…

November 08, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Past Week @FineArtAmerica, Angel, #AcrylicPainting
My newer work continues to press ahead with a few long-time many-times viewed images, with another new painting, Angel, being uploaded to Fine Art America the last day before the week’s cut-off. Fall colors are in the air, with only 2 works on the list not related to autumn.

November 07, 2021 – Oh, I Think I’m Creative Do I? So What Am I Doing With My Unused Paint End of Each Painting Session? – 1st Result : The Earth Sends Its Prayers
First thing I gotta tell you is, this came out nothing like where I thought it was going – softer, blended gradations – until I ruined it, lol! So what you see is more playful frustration than anything “polished.” But it was fun 😊 Ironic in a sense, since, as seen below, I started with…

November 05, 2021 – New #Acrylic Upload @FineArtAmerica – Dance
An exuberant slash of color and shape swimming with colors and shapes, Dance is a new acrylic abstract I last worked on nearly a month ago in early October. I let it sit, hang on the wall, lean in a corner; recently wired and framed it, and never saw what my wife says she’s seen…

November 04, 2021 – Autumn Passage, New 18×24 #AcrylicPainting on Golden Light Molding Paste
Autumn Passage, a variation of Fall Color 1 (see below), a small 6×6 watercolor from last summer (2020), is similar but occupies its own 18×24 space. While the smaller piece, Fall Color 1 below, is I think better balanced within its square space, the larger newer piece, Autumn Passage is more intense with a bit…

November 03, 2021 – Handy Creative Benefit While Waiting for More Time to Paint : Prep a Canvas with a Potential Image in Mind
I forget that, whether working oils or watercolors or acrylics, where one dries ultra slowly and another fairly quickly but is re-wet-able and the other dries super fast anyways, I can – and now that I’m again into some kind of stream of painting more consistently – I can and should and am lucky to…

October 28, 2021 – Sold! At the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – #SRV Statue Photo Capture + 1 Small Painting
Stevie Ray Vaughan’s of course a legend, esp here in Austin, and I was fortunate to be out searching for images to capture one very early grey-blue late-February morning, and I got very lucky ❤️

October 26, 2021 – I’ve Been Reading, and It’s Triggered a Realization on My Part How Important the Surface of a Painting, My Own Paintings in Particular, Are to Me….
…tinkering with the surface of my current art work. I enjoy doing that, immensely. The surface of my work often being as important, or I should say, as interesting to me, as the image as a whole. And of course now I want to make the image as a whole, whether seen from a short…

October 24, 2021 – My Most Viewed Image This Past Week @FineArtAmerica, Arm Chair View Paris, an early #watercolor #blackandwhite #figureart circa Sept 2020
An interesting most viewed results on my Fine Art America site this past viewing period — Plus, as surprising, was the fact 4 of my top 6 most viewed images were Paris themed, 2 of the remainder were also from places we’ve visited (New York & Vermont), followed by most viewed “period” of an Austin…

October 21, 2021 – Delivering New Art to the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – 3 Piece Floral Set and 1 Autumn 6×6, all #Watercolors
Despite my many gripes about living in Austin, Texas, there’s of course a handful of things I do like. Among them is the opportunity the city makes for artisans 50 or older living in the Austin area to show their creative work. I’ve been fortunate to have some sales, and am very grateful to be…

October 20, 2021 – Sold! At the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – Paris Dreams (Dreaming of Paris)
I’m very grateful to my buyer at the Old Bakery & Emporium in Austin Texas! 🙏 With as few months as the Old Bakery’s been reopen, and all the precautions needed to be taken recently here in Austin, it’s a miracle to be able to share my art a this time 💕

October 18, 2021 – A Good Problem, Lots of Interesting Pics and Posts Developing in My Blog Pipeline! Part 3, 1st Completed Work of 5 – “Playtime, Mother and Child”
I’m also breaking a bit of tradition in terms of my routine and going ahead and posting my completed image, not as good a resolution etc as I’d like (yet), and also not yet uploaded to Fine Art America. It’s simply a time choice. Paint and create. Or paint less but massage the photo capture…

October 13, 2021 – A Good Problem, Lots of Interesting Pics and Posts Developing in My Blog Pipeline! Part 2
Recently I posted 3 other canvas paintings I’ve been working on, and here I’m showing the 2 I’d mentioned in that post but didn’t have photo captures of yet. Both are 18×24 on canvas, with light molding paste from Golden, but, at this stage applied slightly differently.

October 11, 2021 – A Good Problem, Lots of Interesting Pics and Posts Developing in My Blog Pipeline! Part 1
And the 3 images above do not include 2 more 18×24 semi-abstract semi-figure works, lol! Which is great for my painting and fitness interests, but leaving me a tiny bit in the lurch blogging-time wise – but – with a wealth of new material, well, materializing 😊 It’s my intent to have a blog post…

September 24, 2021 – New Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, Ridges of Spring Light, #watercolor, painted late 2019
I’ve recently been including Ridges of Spring Light in several of my blog posts about dappled light and masking fluid, not because it was meant to “be” dappled light, or that I used masking fluid creating it, though it does have three distinct areas of canvas (coated with absorbent ground to accept watercolors). No, Ridges…

September 17, 2021 – New Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, “Fantasy Walk” : Watercolor on Canvas on Light Molding Paste, #ContemporaryImpressionism

September 11, 2021 – “Fantasy Walk” : Figure Art on Light Molding Paste on Canvas, Calling it Done, Sorta….
Developing this painting has been more lesson on do’s and don’t’s I think than of completing a finished work, though I also think I’m gonna have to call this one done and move on. Looking at the image sequence from top to bottom, working from finish back to my start, I can see several “things”…

September 09, 2021 – Continuing Work on Figure Art on Light Molding Paste on Canvas, (tentative title) “Fantasy Walk”
As seen in my image below from my overview of starting this new painting (Fantasy Walk), I’ve begun painting in the figure – yeah, I don’t plan leaving her standing on one leg, lol! 😊

September 08, 2021 – Developing 2 New Figure Paintings on Light Molding Paste on Canvas – 1 Watercolor, 1 Acrylic with Watercolor
I don’t have a favorite yet between the two above paintings-in-progress, though I love certain things about each one ❤️ First, in the vertical upper top painting above, the acrylic greens over the varying red shades of watercolor shimmer and stain and reveal the uneven watercolor coat in surprising ways; possibly also because of the…

September 03, 2021 – 2nd Week Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, “ala Anders Zorn, Woman Dressing” : #Watercolor on Absorbent Ground on Canvas Panel #ContemporaryImpressionism
My small 5×7 impressionist copy, “ala Anders Zorn, Woman Dressing” captured the highest number of views for the week for a 2nd week! And with a relatively hefty leader over those ranking right below it (vs my own images). [note: this post also includes a discussion about Contemporary Impressionism]

August 27, 2021 – Another New Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, “ala Anders Zorn, Woman Dressing” : (again) a #Watercolor on Absorbent Ground on Canvas Panel #ContemporaryImpressionism
Despite only having been uploaded to my Fine Art America site for one day, my small 5×7 impressionist copy, “ala Anders Zorn, Woman Dressing” captured the highest number of views for the week! August 23, 2021 – Delivering New Art to the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – ala Anders Zorn, Woman Dressing
Like my recently sold small 5×7 watercolor, “ala Monet, Girl with Umbrella” at the Old Bakery, this new work – “ala Anders Zorn, Woman Dressing” is also my own rendition of another older artist’s work, is 5×7 on canvas coated with Golden’s Absorbent Ground, and will also be for sale at the Old Bakery 😊…

August 20, 2021 – Sold! At the Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas – ala Monet, Girl with Umbrella
Like a minor but very welcome miracle, a faint rainbow, or even a tiny prayer that surfaces in one’s heart unexpectedly, I sold my small 5×7 watercolor on panel at the Old Bakery and Emporium which just reopened in July!

August 18, 2021 – Another New (but related) Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, “Testing the Water” : #Acrylic on Light Molding Paste on Canvas #ContemporaryImpressionism
For nearly two months now, my more recent softer original watercolors and now an acrylic along the same style have been my most seen images of mine on my site at Fine Art America! Plus figure art work has dominated all but one of those 7 weeks 😊

August 13, 2021 – A New Most Viewed Image For the Week @FineArtAmerica, “A Walk Among the Wildflowers” : #Watercolor on Absorbent Ground on Canvas #ContemporaryImpressionism
After five record weeks of most viewed of my images on Fine Art America, Summer is a Lady paused and rested at 2nd most viewed – allowing another watercolor mine, from slightly over a year ago, to resurface with interest!

August 10, 2021 – My Newest Art Upload @FineArtAmerica – Testing the Water (Acrylic on Canvas)
Several things went into making this one of my favored positive-surprise results: 1. Golden’s Light Molding Paste, which itself allowed several things a. creation of a descriptive molding directing movement and form b. an absorption surface that allowed my use of watered down acrylics which gave me my currently-favored look – watercolors c. and least…

August 08, 2021 – Working a New 16×20 Acrylic, “Testing the Water” : Basically Complete
I’m pretty sure this will be the finished painting, but gonna let it sit just a bit, then if so, if the photo’d image shot of Testing the Water shows well when the edges are straightened out etc in Affinity Photo and I can upload it to Fine Art America, then I can fairly safely…

August 05, 2021 – Working a New 16×20 Acrylic, Working Title : Testing the Water, Enhancing the Landscape
This doesn’t portray the current stage of my new painting as well as it should. I probably took the pic too late in the day; the texture is stronger than I see it and the colors more subdued, but I figured, time being what it is right now (concerns with my mom, having the 8…

August 03, 2021 – Working a New 16×20 Acrylic, Working Title : Testing the Water, Refining the Figure, Developing the Background
I wanted to do more on this but things are happening re Covid, in my life. I’ll have more on this very soon – nothing w/me or family here in Austin (despite horrid #s lately), but nearby, also here in Texas. Wonderful how fluid and flexible art is, giving us challenges one day, inspiration on…

August 02, 2021 – Prepping a New 16×20 Acrylic, Working Title : Testing the Water, 1st Figure Lay-in
I included my most recent updated image from a post a few days ago further below. Besides the figure work (not yet complete), you can see where I continued to rework the area around the figure, setting her off more completely.

July 31, 2021 – Prepping a New 16×20 Acrylic, Working Title : Testing the Water
The initial goal was to simply select and mark the area for my figure. Then I freely applied Golden’s light molding paste, leaving the selected area for my figure much more level, and forming the paste into potentially vegetative designs as inspiration and malleable ground meshed —
