May 25, 2021 – Delivering Art for the Reopening of The Old Bakery and Emporium (across from the State Capital) Austin, Texas
Today Sheila and I took a selection of my prints and originals to the Old Bakery & Emporium. It was a warm welcoming reminder of what everyone involved with the Old Bakery, artists and personnel alike, have missed for over two years!

May 15, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, Bird Friends at Our Balcony
Granted, my real life observation of birds is relatively limited, I’ve never seen this before, one Cardinal feeding two! Wonderful really, so amazed at the joy of such a tiny slice of nature ❤️ To say it’s adorable seems nearly a cliche, but adorable it is!

May 14, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, First Bird to Visit Our New Balcony Brings a Friend
Adding on to yesterday’s pic of our 1st bird visitor to our new balcony at our new location is, I assume 😊, the same little bird, but with a friend, her red feathered boy cardinal I think! The expressions, I think, are priceless!

May 13, 2021 – Our #1 Learned Lesson This Move : Number the Boxes and Make a Digital List!
“Such a simple idea, and Sheila says she’s either read or heard something similar, but only occurred to me this morning searching for random items I must’ve stuffed into a box with other stuff and now can’t find them – number each box, make a list of….”

May 10, 2021 – Random (sorta) Pic of the Day, Max Jumping Steps
“…here goes a short quickshot pictorial of my 1st probe of the nearest Austin nature area new to us, one we’ve never explored before; all done yesterday evening at the last moment.”

April 25, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid – First Full Day in Our New Location!

April 23, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid – Long Day, Almost Finished the Transition to Our New Location
Had hoped to finish with the old place and be set for sorting and unpacking at the new, but too much to do. That and rolling thunderstorms, hail and threats of tornadoes, lol!

April 22, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid – The Movers Arrive, on Earth Day
Don’t want to tell you what we have ahead in terms of chores (esp setting up new WiFi), but can tell you, as per the top pic, we earned our keep today on Earth Day, moving within the trees 😊 💕 🌳

April 21, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid – Catching the New Light at the New Apartment
Most of what we took yesterday (Tue, the 20th) were boxed paintings, but one, the acrylic Lady in Paris 1889 which I’d been working on, chosen ’cause the paint would dry quickly minimizing smears & all that, lol, and that one, not too big, at 20×20, was super light, so I just hand carried it.

April 20, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid – Our 1st Peek of Our New Abode
Tomorrow I’ll try and have some interior shots I took before our car load of boxes came in; another similar round of car loads tomorrow, then the “big” movers come Thursday; but right now, 5 min til 8pm, we’re very hopeful, and we’re calling it a day, quite a day ♥️

April 18, 2021 – Moving in Our 70’s in a Time of Covid – Stragglers Needing Packing
“I have most my images, prints and originals, paper/canvas/panels, mostly packed now…Somehow I’ve ended up with several stragglers, lol!”

March 10, 2021 – Confusion and Weariness With Mask Anarchy, LOL!
It’s barely 4 in the afternoon here in Austin but I feel like I’ve lived another week of another mass confusion and whiplash.

March 07, 2021 – Woke to This! Masks Now To Be Required to Grocery Shop at HEB, Randalls – Opinion, It’s the Right Thing To Do
Sheila came rushing in to the kitchen to ask me to guess who reversed their no-masks-required decision, and I jokingly “guessed” at several of our state’s leadership, but I was wrong anyway, lol! No, it’s more important than that actually – it’s where we shop to buy our food!

March 04, 2021 – Masks in Grocery Stores in Austin – Back to Mask/Mass Confusion
All I feel I can really do is wish and pray for the safety of everyone in those stores without mandates, whether pro or con re the masks. If we’re in this together, we really need to act like we’re are in this together ♥️

March 03, 2021 – Why We’re Only Shopping at Sprouts For Groceries (and a few others) Here in Austin For Now, Hint: Covid-19
“… for us to choose to voluntarily restrict ourselves to Sprouts, and a few other stores I’ll highlight hopefully tomorrow, is a big deal. Fixed incomes of the qualifying-for-most-any-level of stimulus cut-off-money work that way 😊 ”

February 22, 2021 – Austin Winter Storm, Power is On, Water is Running, Boil Ban is Canceled, and – I Shaved!
It’s hard to express the relief in again having the taken-for-granted luxury of running water, power to heat and cool our air and bodies, and being able to stand with family, even if for a short time, even if we knew we’d all four had to have been social distancing / masking – even if…

February 21, 2021 – Austin Winter Storm, Hope is a Wet Blue Line and One Brave Bird in a Tree
My apologies for the break in communication continuity since yesterday morning – it’s been a rough but promising ride, and, I got my own answer as to how come the phrase/idea, “Why the Caged Bird Sings” has always appealed to me 😊

February 16, 2021 – Austin Winter Storm, A Tale of Two Cities
Info is coming out of ignored warnings within our Texas energy company re mis-use of power margins (I don’t know the details) and warnings of energy crunches, especially during our seemingly unending hot summers. The local news calls it “a lot of finger pointing.”

February 15, 2021 – Austin Winter Storm, Looks Pretty, Feels Terrible, No Power 14+ Hours
Sheila and I’ve been through 2 weeks without power in Galveston, after Hurricane Alicia, and I went through Hurricane Carla in Houston over 3 days in ’61, but this we-ain’t-built-for-it single digit cold and below zero wind shield has literally shut down the entire Texas power grid!

February 14, 2021 – The Weather in Austin May Affect My Posting, Just Not Sure How Yet 😏
Temperatures here in Austin are predicted to drop and stay around the temps Sheila and I experience in ’89 when we moved here from Galveston, ie, mid to low single digits. Records in this area going back to the 1800s put that at #4 on the all time lows list!
